Terrestrial Planet Exploration

Take a trip to the rocky planets of the inner solar system!

Terrestrial Planet Exploration

Day 1

Depart Earth and begin the journey to Mercury, the planet closest to the sun. The trip will take about 3.5 months, so be sure to bring plenty of supplies and entertainment.

Day 10

Arrival at Mercury! The surface temperature here can reach up to 800 degrees Fahrenheit, so be sure to wear a protective suit. Explore the planet's rocky, cratered terrain and take measurements of the thin atmosphere.

Day 24

Depart Venus and begin the journey to Mars, the fourth planet from the sun. The trip will take about 6 months.

Day 44

Arrival at Mars! The surface temperature here is much cooler than on Venus or Mercury, but it can still reach up to 70 degrees Fahrenheit in the daytime. Explore the planet's reddish, rocky terrain and search for signs of past or present life. Investigate the erosion marks of past water. Take readings of the thin atmosphere and study the planet's polar ice caps. Take note of the amazing landmarks, like Olympus Mons, the solar system’s tallest volcano.

Day 12

Depart Mercury and begin the journey to Venus, the second planet from the sun. The trip will take about 2 months.

Day 22

Arrival at Venus! The surface temperature here is hot enough to melt lead, so again, be sure to wear a protective suit. Venus has a thick, toxic atmosphere, but our protective suits will make sure that you do not inhale any of it or get crushed under the pressure. Take readings of the atmosphere and study the volcanoes on the surface.

Day 46

Depart Mars and begin the journey back to Earth. The trip will take about 6 months.

Day 60

Arrival back on Earth! Reflect on the amazing sights and discoveries made on this incredible journey to the planets. Share your findings with the world and plan your next space adventure!
